Mikhailov’s Gallery houses the largest collection of contemporary Russian art in
our country. It was persecuted by the KGB during the time of Brezhnev and
Gorbachev in the 70s and 80s and even now continues its fight with the present
city administration! There are two exhibition halls affiliated to Mikhailov’s
Gallery (53, Liteiny Prospect and 82, Moika Embankment). They offer much more than
you could ever hope to find in the Russian Museum and the Tretyakov Gallery.
There’s brand new contemporary art, untouched even by critics, fearlessly and
sometimes surprisingly reflecting our life. Among the artists are some well-known
names; Isachev, Brusovani, Shemyakin, Miller, Rukhin, Shinkarev, Mayorov...
as well as those whose fame is yet to be discovered.
Master’s Guild, one of the oldest galleries in St. Petersburg, will be presenting
the personal exhibition of Nikolai Reznichenko from May 6th to June 6th.
